Batteries
Manganese is often used as a positive electrode material in the battery industry.
The application of manganese in the battery industry can not only provide higher capacity, but also have a long cycle life, which can make the battery more durable and have a longer service life. Manganese is relatively cheap compared to other metal materials, making its application cost in the battery industry lower.
Traditional zinc-manganese batteries mainly use electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD) as the positive electrode, and manganese is also an important component in power battery positive electrode materials such as lithium manganese oxide and nickel cobalt lithium manganese oxide. In 2021, the application of manganese in the battery industry accounted for about 2%.
Most battery factories add the following manganese products into their production process.
End-Markets
l Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide
l Manganese Sulfate (MnSO4 battery Grade)
l Manganese Carbonate (MnCO3 battery Grade)
